How to Advance Your Lash Education

Talk to any experienced lash artists about the industry, and they’ll unanimously agree on one thing: the lash industry evolves day by day!

In fact, research shows that the lash industry has doubled in revenue over the past 4 years. With growth comes innovation, new trends, and of course, the need to improve as an artist!

As the industry continues to grow at its current rate, it’s especially important for artists to advance their education and keep up with the changing tides.

Why, you might ask?

Well, firstly, clients come to us because we are the experts in our field! What comes with that is the need to be a forever student.  Take a doctor, for instance. New research, medications, and practices come out every year, and there’s still so much to be understood about the human body. To be the best in their field, they need to always be learning.

Needless to say, we here at Lash Reality believe education is our top priority for those very same reasons! Nowadays, thanks to the internet, there are tons of ways (free ones, too!) for lash artists to advance their skills.

Keep reading as we’ll cover these different methods and share some of our favorite tips.

Training Courses

The most obvious method of learning is through school!  Today, there are hundreds of courses lash artists can sign up for to learn new techniques. You can find everything from the basics of lash extensions to more technical courses like lash layering or fan making. There are even options for e-learning, meaning you can improve your skills from the comfort of your home!

No matter your experience level, you should prioritize taking a course every year. Even if you have already taken one on the same topic, I’ve found from experience that I always leave feeling like I’ve learned something new. Who knows – you might meet that perfect pro tip that takes your services to another level, or perhaps you meet another artist who becomes a best friend?

P.S. ICYMI, Lash Reality is coming to a city near you! We’re so excited to bring our Classic & Volume Extensive Lash Trainings to different states, and we can’t wait to train all of you. Our trainers bring decades of experience, and through our course, you get lifetime support for our network of artists! Learn more about our eyelash extension training courses here

Social Media

Who said scrolling through TikTok isn’t productive? 😏

Social media is truly one of the best free resources for learning more about lash extensions. There are thousands of Instagram and TikTok accounts that post new techniques, product reviews, and general pro tips for lash artists daily.

Not to mention, these platforms make it so easy to explore emerging trends and find new brands. I’ve found that if I’m in a rut, exploring lash-related hashtags can reignite my passion for lashes

Trade Shows & Conferences

Trade shows and conferences are like the Met Galas of the lashing world. During these two-to-three-day-long events, dozens of professional brands and hundreds of artists come together to connect, educate, and inspire each other.

We love these events for a few reasons! Firstly, they give artists the opportunity to test products in person before buying them – a luxury we lash artists don’t get very often. Secondly, trade shows are an amazing way to feel connected to your profession and to meet others like you in the business.

Truthfully, being a lash artist can get pretty lonely. We don’t have coworkers similar to other professions, and there aren’t many opportunities to meet people who understand our line of work. With lash events like conferences or networking parties, it relieves that isolation and offers us a community where we can learn and grow with each other.

Lastly, trade shows and conferences grant so many opportunities to learn from the various activation booths, panels, and classes.
